Spitsbergen

previous page

Lying a mere 600 miles from the North Pole, Spitsbergen is the largest island of the Svalbard Archipelago. Draped in darkness during the long northern winter, this frigid land is dramatically transformed into a place of perpetual sunshine during our summer visit. The landscape photography is nothing short of sensational, with towering snowcapped mountains, forbidding glaciers and flower-studded tundra. An abundance of iconic Arctic mammals also occur, including whales, walrus, Arctic Fox, reindeer and the most iconic of them all, Polar Bear.
